What you will learn during the Cybersecurity bootcamp in Paris

Remote Prework

Before you become an official student, you will be given 20 hours of online learning material. This prework will familiarize you with what a computer is, how operating systems work and what networks are. This knowledge will get you ready for learning Cybersecurity and prepared to thrive in our fast-paced learning process during the bootcamp.

Module 1 - Understanding the principles of cybersecurity

In Module 1 (weeks 1-4) we will onboard you on everything that is necessary to have a cybersecurity mindset:

- Basics of computer, device hardware, software, processes, networking traffic, routing protocols, etc.

- Hands-on operation of a computer network, analysis of network topologies, use of virtual machines

- System and network admin concepts, management principles and controls

- Overview of threats, classes, attackers, tactics and security principles, protocols, components and architectures.

Module 2 - Security and Threats

In this module (weeks 5-8) you will learn how to understand and build a security program as well as to identify and tackle the principles and most common threats in today’s environment:

- Assessment of Access Controls and Hardening Techniques to ensure a network's security, as well as learning how to configurate and use a Firewall.

- Development of your own detection and prevention system as well as use & configuration of an event management system to detect and analyze threats.

- Deep dive on cyber-forensic methodologies and investigation.

- Performance of a vulnerability and compliance scanning as well as reporting of an incident response, a damage assessment or an incident triage, along with tracking and monitoring.

Module 3 - Real projects for your new career

During the last module of the Bootcamp (weeks 9-12) you will be starting to protect real time Cyber Attacks while improving your acquired knowledge in previous modules, performing a security analysis and architecture evaluation as well as running static and dynamic analysis from different data sources.

- Analysis of cyber-defense and system security trends

- Risk and security management process

- Advising on disaster recovery, contingency and continuity.

- Final hands-on scenarios to establish the pillars of your new rock solid knowledge to get you prepared for your new career!

CSP

If you have recently lost your job as a result of an economic layoff, the Contract of Professional Security (CSP) can finance up to the total cost of the training. CSP is available for all Ironhack’s bootcamps, though you may need additional approval if the course is not yet certified by the RNCP.

Transition professionnelle

Support for your career change. Employees who want to change careers can request a Professional Transition Project (PTP), which can finance up to the total cost of the bootcamp. Any training that is eligible for CPF is also open to PTP (Web Development bootcamp at Ironhack).Prepare your request at least 3 months before the start of the course with the Transitions Pro of your region. Ironhack can complete the required paperwork for the school.

Pledg

In partnership with Pledg, our students can pay in 3, 6, or 10 monthly installments, whether it be for our full-time or part-time bootcamps. The net tuition, after payment of the deposit and any third-party financing, can be divided into monthly automatic payments via bank card on the Pledg platform. For the 3 installment plan, there are no additional charges. For the payment in 6 and 10 installments, the fees are 2.65% and 4.7% of the total balance applied to the first payment.

CPF (Compte personnel de formation)

If you are studying web development, the CPF (Compte Personnel de Formation) can finance a part of your bootcamp. This public funding mechanism for continuing education can finance a portion of your program if you have an account and have accumulated credit as an employee at the rate of 500€ per year worked). The aid can range from 200€ to 5000€.

Pôle emploi

If you are unemployed, Pôle emploi can help you find a job and provide financial aid for training. The AIF is limited to €2,000 and is not automatic, so you need approval from your counselor for this funding. The POEI requires you to find a company that is ready to hire you directly following the bootcamp. In this case, Pôle Emploi and the OPCO of the company can finance the total cost of the training.

OPCO (Opérateurs de Compétence)

Financing support for active employees. OPCOs can work with your employer to help finance your training. If you are already employed, you can apply for this program, which has no cap. Subsidies are awarded on a sliding scale depending on your specific situation and typically range between €2,000 and €6,000. Need more information? Ask your HR manager or contact us for a quote.

After the personal interview, you will need to pass a Cybersecurity technical assessment to show that you are ready for our fast-paced learning environment.

Deposit and prework

Once you have completed the technical assessment and paid the deposit, you will be granted access to the prework. The prework is fundamental to the Cybersecurity program, and you must complete it before starting the course in Paris.

Course Information

A typical day at Ironhack Paris

The day begins with a lecture and demonstration from the Lead Teacher, who is a cyber security expert. Once the lecture and demonstration is complete, students will spend the remainder of the class working through the material in the LMS (Learning Management System) with the help and support of TAs and fellow students. The LMS material is dynamic, hands-on and enaging. Each day will be a little different and full of practical challenges. There are videos, quizzes, games, and simulations in which they will learn to hack and defend real Linux and Windows systems.
