Don’t forget about your profile picture!
On the week before your class starts, you will be invited to a space dedicated to your own class. Your Program Manager (PM) will send you everything you need beforehand.
You will have two types of slack spaces: the general alumni space and your cohort space.
Keep in mind that this is a professional environment, so watch your manners when speaking through channels and direct messages.
General space: This is where the whole community is and the space is divided by topic. You will find general information from Ironhack so feel free to start browsing and interacting. You’ll find also there your prework tech support channel. You can find the name of your support channel in your welcome email.
Slack Classroom channel: here you will find a space to chat with your classmates and your teachers. You’ll be invited to the channel some days before the class starts, so be patient and have everything ready by then!

It’s a series of lessons and assessments for you to complete. It is mandatory and has to be completed one week before the start of your course. You’ll receive a few prework reminders so please take a look at your mailbox. Prework can take around 40 / 60 hours to complete it so don’t wait until the last minute to finish it!
If you need help on the prework, feel free to go on the general slack space and leave your questions in the Slack channel for prework tech support, where a facilitator will help you resolve them.
The name of the channel is inside the welcome email and the prework reminders emails.
Although our classes are remote, we encourage you to keep your camera on to stay connected and maintain a professional environment. This will also help you get comfortable for job interviews and future meeting in your next jobs, where cameras are expected.
Always maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward your peers, teachers, and the Ironhack team. We are all doing our best to support you in reaching your goals💙
We’ll use Zoom for our live classes so alongside Slack will be your daily tools to communicate and stay in class. Expect to receive the Zoom Link a couple of days before your classes begin.
We recommend downloading the Zoom app.
You’ll find the link to your Classroom pinned at the top of your general channel in your class Slack space and also saved in your Student Portal.
We have an automatic attendance system linked to Zoom. For this reason, punctuality and attendance are mandatory and essential for your course experience, as they help you follow our methodology and program guidelines.
It’s essential to sign in Zoom with the same address as the one you used to log in the student portal.
Before the course
Yes! Ask your Program Manager (PM) directly, they’ll be able to change it.
Most of our teachers are professionals working in the industry that share one thing, passion to help transform people's lives and introduce them to the fascinating Tech World.
You will meet your Lead Teacher on the Day 0 event but you can ask first your Program Manager as well.
The size of the class varies depending on the course.
At Ironhack, all the lessons will be recorded and shared in the Student Portal at the end of each day. This allows students to review the content covered in class at their own pace if they need to. Even after the course ends, you’ll continue to have lifetime access to the recordings and all the content in your student platform!
At Ironhack, we benefit from an international and diverse environment with students joining from many places in the world, so it's hard to stick to a set bank holidays schedule.
On top of that, we want to make the most out of your condensed learning experience, that's why we don't take bank holidays in consideration.
You’ll only have bank holidays if it falls during Christmas time.
During the course
We want to make sure you start the class as prepared and calm as possible. That is why, on the week before the beginning of your course, we will host a Day 0 session to go over the main rules and things to keep in mind for a successful learning experience, followed by a teaching team introduction and finally your turn to ask questions.
This session won't be mandatory, and it will be recorded. Most of the content and topics covered in the session will be reviewed on the Day 1 presentation, but we encourage you to join as it will help you be better prepared on the first day and break the ice!
The experience goes fast and is quite intense. There is a lot of information condensed into just a few weeks. Missing classes will definitely impact your learning and overall experience, so our recommendation is to attend every session. However, we understand that things can happen during a 9- or 24- weeks course. If you need to miss a class, please contact your Program Manager as soon as possible to evaluate your case.
At Ironhack we believe in the learning by doing methodology, that is why you won't get grades during your course. But to ensure your level and learnings during the course you will have to meet some requirements:
Labs and assessments: Aim for 100% completion rate on activities, they are the best way to learn. Minimum allowed of completion will be 80%. You have to present your projects on time / quizzes and final scenarios in the Cybersecurity Bootcamp.
Attendance:
If you need to miss a day, you must inform your Program Manager and your teacher in advance. Personal trips are not considered justified absences. However, work-related schedule conflicts, medical appointments, or similar situations can be justified. In those cases, the absence will be marked as excused rather than unexcused. You’ll need to send your PM a slack or an email with that proof.
Please also remember to be punctual. If you are going to be late due to work or any other valid reason, make sure to inform your teaching team. Otherwise, every 3 late arrivals will count as 1 absence.
Full Time: You cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences.
Part Time: You cannot have more than 7 unexcused absences.
Once you meet the requirements for graduation, you will receive your diploma after the course finishes via email. The certificate is only digital.
If you graduated from the course, you’ll have the option to choose one of the two vouchers we provide to certify your skills, depending on the course you completed. You will receive more information from your Program Manager as the time approaches.
Yes! You will have lifetime access to your recordings and content you learnt during the course.
