Why should you study Data analytics in Lisbon

Tech garden in bloomLisbon is quickly becoming the go-to city for corporate giants to dig in new roots. Google recently announced the launch of an engineering hub in Oeiras right next door. In turn, Daimler will soon be opening up a major tech and data hub, following in the footsteps of Volkswagen Group IT, MAN Truck & Bus and BMW’s Critical TechWorks joint venture. Hundreds of new tech jobs are opening up in their wakes!
An abundance of eventsMajor technology conferences call Lisbon home. After three years of trial runs, Web Summit will stay in the city for ten more years, which is expected to generate $3.5 billion for Portugal over the next decade. As well, the annual Lisbon Investment Summit gives local startups the chance to pitch to international firms and has significantly bolstered this city’s global tech presence.
Tidal wave of new investmentsPortugal is quickly bouncing back economically, and perhaps the biggest factor of that is tech. In 2017 alone, Portugal’s tech industry raised $350 million in venture capital, and private equity investments have recently more than tripled to €7 billion. Investors and startups are flocking in, and so are the workers. In turn, Lisbon’s data community is expanding rapidly, supported by data analytics programs in local universities and the city authorities who continue to champion these roles.

Is your electricity consumption 20–20–20?

20% increase of energy efficiency, 20% decrease in CO2 emissions, and 20% of energy production from renewable sources, all by 2020: a challenging goal to meet. Ingrid was inspired to analyze Spain’s electricity consumption in order to determine whether or not we are on the path toward a more sustainable rate of electricity consumption. She found some particularly interesting patterns that we are following as users!

What sets Lisbon apart?

Lisbon, “The California of Europe,” stands as one of Europe’s major hubs for finance, media, entertainment, commerce, the arts and international trade. Not only is Lisbon host to a booming tech scene, but also a continually affordable cost of living, sublime weather and beaches, and numerous culinary and natural wonders.
This perfect combination of commerce, culture and comfort has attracted a new wave of digital nomads and tech workers. The city welcomes newcomers with open arms. However, this isn’t at the expense of the local culture, as Lisbon’s traditional foods, arts and historical neighborhoods remain well-established.
