Why should you study Data analytics in Barcelona

Data CouncilConsidered one of the top 10 places in the world to do business, Barcelona is host to a multitude of tech events and conferences. One of the best being Data Council, the very first community-powered data platform, science and analytics event. This gathering is catered to software engineers, data scientists, deep learning researchers and technical founders.
A unified, data-driven cityBarcelona stands behind data as an essential part of its growing economy and culture. This has been manifested through BigDataBCN, the union of the City Council of Barcelona, the Generalitat and BDigital, with the support of Oracle and the Center of Excellence. Altogether, they are making the value of data tangible by supporting Barcelona as southern Europe’s most essential data processing center.
Data drives back crisisWhile Barcelona was affected by the 2008 economic crisis, tech companies stepped in and helped create unique solutions – incubators and accelerators like Incubio, Conector and Wayra from Telefonica generated more than 120 companies within just the last year. And most of these companies deal with data. This means that data analytics is not only a field in demand but also bolstering a growing economy.

Is your electricity consumption 20–20–20?

20% increase of energy efficiency, 20% decrease in CO2 emissions, and 20% of energy production from renewable sources, all by 2020: a challenging goal to meet. Ingrid was inspired to analyze Spain’s electricity consumption in order to determine whether or not we are on the path toward a more sustainable rate of electricity consumption. She found some particularly interesting patterns that we are following as users!

What sets Barcelona apart?

Catalonia’s beachside capital offers an eclectic blend of traditional culture and modern sensibilities. This leading tourist, cultural and economic center has everything you need to relax and expand your mind.
Explore the city’s almost endless variety of culinary, artistic and architectural marvels after class lets out. Then fill your nights and weekends with some of Europe’s best bars and clubs. Barcelona’s social life is world-renowned, and you’ll be right in the thick of it.
Or if you’ve had your fill of the city, the near year-round sunshine brings the Mediterranean coast right to your doorstep. Frolic on the beach between study sessions, and explore the surrounding Spanish forests with your fellow classmates.
