During your first 60 hours as an official Ironhack Data Analytics student you will be laying the foundation for success in Barcelona. During the prework phase you will:
1. learn the fundamentals of command line, Git, Python, MySQL and statistical analysis
2. familiarize yourself with the basics of programming and statistics and
3. connect with your peers and expert academic staff by utilizing our Slack channel.
Once you’ve completed the prep materials and synced up with your class, you’ll be ready to dive into the course!
The first two weeks will introduce you and your classmates to the world of data analytics. Then you will establish your development environment for the classroom as you settle into our tight-knit data community.
Topics include:
- Introductions to data wrangling/cleaning.
- APIs and web scraping.
- Intermediate levels of Git, SQL and Python.
Week three calls for your first project as an apprentice data analyst! Apply your new Python skills by conducting data analysis with real datasets.
In weeks four and five you’ll take a deeper look into the mathematics behind data analytics.
Topics include:
- Utilizing Python to understand inferential statistics and probability.
- Incorporating Python into the fundamentals of business intelligence.
- Learning story-telling techniques in order to visualize your data and insights in presentations.
Week six will mark the start of your second project: a complete data analysis. This will be constructed from data that you will have processed, cleaned and visualized from real datasets!
The final module will introduce you to the fundamentals of machine learning in weeks seven and eight. We’ll start things off by teaching you to understand the machine workflow, and the lessons will only expand from there.
Topics include:
- Both supervised and unsupervised learning.
- The essentials of popular machine learning algorithms.
- Building, training and evaluating models with the Scikit-Learn machine learning library.
For the last week of this module and course, you will face your final and most challenging task: building an end-to-end machine learning project. You will need to process a dataset, extract features, train a model, and use that model to make predictions on new data. When your project is complete, you will compete alongside your fellow students in our Hackshow.

Caja de Ingenieros (Caixa d'Enginyers) is a cooperative society for savings and credit that has more than 145,000 members and developed a model of personal, commercial, institutional and business banking in the Spanish region focusing on the service for professionals, mainly engineers.
Nemuru has built a platform that offers real-time financing to the customers and can be done entirely online,meaning that the student doesn't need to go to any bank branch and the financing can be approved on the same day.
Bankia is a Spanish bank that is included in the Ibex 35. It operates throughout Spain, with a universal banking business model based on multi-channel management and specialized in serving individuals and businesses. You’ll need to present your acceptance letter and all the documentation they demand.
Loans for local and international students. Only pay for your Ironhack experience after you’ve graduated by using Quotanda. This Lending-as-a-Service (LaaS) platform helps manage affordable student financing programs around the world. You can select from several loan plans, depending on your specific needs and financial situation. The interest rates range from 9% to 11%. After you graduate you will pay back the loan over 36 months. All international Ironhack students may apply.
Loans for Spanish nationals. Two financing options are available through Banco Sabadell: 1) A 5% interest rate for a max of €8,000. This loan must be paid within 10 years in monthly installments. 2) A 0% interest rate for a max €3,000. This loan must be paid within 10 months in monthly installments.

Sian is a data science and business intelligence trainer with over a decade professional experience in data/technical roles, in both consulting and industry. Sian has worked on big budget data warehouse projects for financial services and small, agile startups, with the common thread of demystifying technology to help business users make decisions based on insights from data. Sian started teaching with ironhack in October 2020, in 2017 she started teaching Tableau courses as a consultant, later qualifying to run train the trainer, leading a team of trainers, developing and deploying new Tableau server end user programs. Sian has run public webinars on reporting for Microsoft dynamics ERP systems, visual best practices and dashboard design. Outside of work sian enjoys hiking, yoga, spends most free days on her allotment and is learning the saxophone.
Guillem grew as a Data Scientist at Accenture Advanced Analytics. In 2018, decided to move from consultancy to teaching in code-academies. Passionate about literature, his dream is to build an AI that writes a novel.
