As our world becomes more intertwined with technology, many people are considering a career change to the tech sector because of its in-demand job market. For many, being in technology is an enticing field because you can start without previous experience and it’s a flexible market where diverse experiences and skills are valued. However, for those thinking of changing careers, enrolling in a university to complete a degree related to a computer science, software development, UI/UX design or any other tech field might not be an option. Taking the traditional university route into tech can be cumbersome for some people who don’t have the time or financial means. As an alternative option many people wonder if joining a coding bootcamp is worth their time to transition careers. Regardless of where you are in your research, it's important to consider all your options. 

Meet Maximilian Soeren Pollak , who is not only one of our Ironhack Alumni but also the Hackshow Winner of his Data Analytics Bootcamp in August. We took the chance to interview him and find out more about his remote experience. 

We’ve had a chat with two of our 2021 winners of our Hackshow for the Ironhack Remote’s cohorts. The session was an opportunity for our top students from each bootcamp to present their project to an audience which would then vote for a winner. Our web development winners were Joanne Seiler (JS) and Anja Ramihone (AR). In our interview, we got to know more about their stories and the bootcamp experience.

Everyone is talking about digital jobs and working in the tech industry, especially now that the world has become more digital than ever. According to a McKinsey & Co research, the pandemic “has accelerated digital transformation by 7 years.” Yes, technology and remote work is here to stay and, as opposed to what people may think, tech is not destroying jobs but creating them. 

So you’ve just finished a degree. Woo! You got the paper, you got the photo, you threw your hat in the air…you can’t delay the inevitable question any longer. What now?

JavaScript has come a long way since its creation in the mid-90s. What started as a client-side scripting language can now be used as a server-side language as well through the introduction of frameworks like Node.js, essentially making it the language of the internet. It has been ranked as the most commonly used programming language for the 8th consecutive time, it is used to build roughly 95% of the world’s websites (1.5 billion) and it is one of the most in-demand skills in the job marketplace.
